“The Childbirth and Childcare Lump-Sum Grant” is paid when an insured person gives birth and “the Dependents' Childbirth and Childcare Lump-Sum Grant” is paid when a dependent family member gives birth. In addition, after the child is born, take the necessary steps to add him or her as a dependent.

Request a Childbirth and Childcare Lump-Sum Grant

When using the system of direct payment of Childbirth and Childcare Lump-sum Grant to medical institutions

Submit the documents on agreement to use the system to the medical care institution or other facility where you plan to give birth. (You need not take any action with respect to the Health Insurance Organization. For details, check with the medical care institution or other facility where you plan to give birth.)

If your childbirth expenses are less than the amount of the Childbirth and Childcare Lump-sum Grant paid, the difference will be automatically paid by the Health Insurance Organization as a “Partial Payment of the Childbirth and Childcare Lump-sum Grant”, so there is no need to apply.
